Description
Magnificent chambered Long barrow of the Cotswold-Severn type. Originally had four chambers within it. Two of these chambers are now sealed off due to damage when the barrow was discovered in 1921 when being used as a source of road building material. The remaining chambers are in a good state of repair. Dated to before 3000 BCE.
Finds
This site was excavated in 1821 & 1854 revealing over 20 human skeletons, boars tusks and pottery.
Notes
Named after the Landowner's wife in the 17th century. Also known as Uley Long barrow. Take a torch!
